Born in Romania, Tataru comes from a Tatar background—a complex cultural identity shaped by Eastern European and nomadic histories, traditions, and aesthetics. The resulting portraits capture a subject’s physical likeness while also revealing deeper layers of their identity. Tataru’s goal is to create portraits viewers can connect to and find inspiration within.
